Offering the ideal base for a relaxing or adventurous family holiday. Arrive through a magical valley, discover your beautiful retreat nestled at the end of the track, with stunning sea views, private garden and footpaths in all directions. Within an easy 15-minute drive you reach the wide sandy beaches of Sennen and Gwenver, ideal for honing your surfing skills with plenty of options to indulge in delicious food to recharge the batteries. In the evening, cherish quality family time together in the super stylish, comfortable house, ending the day by stargazing whilst toasting marshmallows on the fire pit.
Footpaths wrap the house with costal walks to Cape Cornwall (north) and Lands End (South); through the ancient mining landscape of Poldark country; and up through the valley following the leylines into the vibrant market town of St Just. Wild swimming in the Cove is a beautiful at low tide.
When you feel like exploring further afield, the beautiful villages of Mousehole, Newlyn and Marazion with St Michaels Mount are within 20 minute drive as is the Minnack Theatre, St Ives (Tate St Ives + Barbara Hepworth Museum) and Penzance.
The front door opens into the heart of the home, a large open plan bespoke kitchen and dining room. The dining table seats 10 easily and opens out into the private garden with the sea view. The kitchen is light and airy and well equipped with high quality kitchen equipment and plenty of storage space, including both a 2-door Aga with two ovens and an electric convection hob and double oven. A large bespoke island unit houses a dishwasher at one end and small fridge at the other and there is a second large American style fridge / freezer.
There are two sitting rooms: step down from the dining room into a wonderful “summer sitting room”, with windows looking out over the garden and onto the sea. Designed as a total escape from it all, with comfortable sofa for curling up with a good book, this room can also be used as a home office should you need to work during your holiday. From the dining room there are two glazed doors into the “winter sitting room”. A cosy room with wood burner, sumptuous sofa, two armchairs and pull down projector screen with surround sound. The projector comes with Apple TV and full selection of Freeview channels.
At the back of the house is a small hallway with good storage for boots and coats and a downstairs loo. The stairs to first floor lead from the hallway.
Bedroom one is large and airy with open beams and views down the valley to the sea. A Timothy Oulton super king bed, with White Company bedding offers a luxurious nights sleep. Right beside it is bedroom two, a cosy single room with views to the sea. These rooms benefit from the shower room at the top of the stairs including a large shower, loo and sink overlooking the valley.
Down a short corridor is bedroom three offering two new twin beds beside a family bathroom with roll top free standing bath. At the front of the house, is bedroom four a lovely double bedroom (king) with ensuite shower room.
Situated at the end of a rural track, with just nearby Porth Nanven Cottage (which can be rented together for a large group) for company. A large gate opens into a small, pretty courtyard, which ensures complete privacy to the front entrance to the house.
To the rear of the property is a beautiful private garden with three lawned granite terraces all with views of the sea and a wild flower meadow. There is a large outdoor table to the side of the garden; and a further one hidden at the end of the wild flower meadow closest to the sea. Additionally there is a fire – pit in the garden that can be moved to where you would like it to be. From the garden it is a 10 minute walk down a footpath banked with wildflowers to Porth Nanven Cove below, sandy at low tide.
There is parking for two cars. Additionally, the owners are happy for you to help yourself to their glorious vegetable garden subject to what is ripe for picking, making this Cornish Cottage the perfect choice for self catering accommodation.
Cot valley is absolute heaven for dogs with abundant footpaths, a stream leading down to the cove. Two dogs are welcome at the house. Dog towels are provided, there is an additional fee per dog. The garden is walled on one side and ‘hedged’ with a drop on the other however it is not impenetrable. Escape artists would most likely succeed in escaping. It cannot be made 100% completely dog proof.
Children and babies are welcomed. Up to two travel cots, and high chairs can be provided on request. The garden is terraced with steps and drops. We accept no responsibility for small boys or adults jumping off the terraces.
