Your Rural Coastal Retreat: Explore, Relax and Unwind

Imagine spending your days exploring the breath-taking beauty of the wild, rugged landscape of West Cornwall, walking to Lands’ End or Zennor.  Balance that with lazy days on nearby sandy beaches, such as Sennen or Porthcurno or find a lesser-known cove, such as Porth Nanven (5 min walk through the wild flowers) or Nanjizel, sunbathing and riding the waves.  Returning to a clean, comfortable and stylish Cornish cottage where you can kick back and unwind, with a glass of something in the private garden. Then head out to St Just, Mousehole, Newlyn or St Ives for dinner to sample the vibrant Cornish culinary scene. If this is your idea of a perfect Cornish holiday, then Porth Nanven Cottage is your ideal choice.

The cottage is snuggled tightly into the hillside and is approached down a track in magical Cot Valley, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Located in the far west of Cornwall between Cape Cornwall and Lands’ End, the valley stretches down to the sea and Porth Nanven Cove which is sandy at low tide. The market town of St Just is nearby with a selection of independent shops, a small co-op, butcher, veg shop, moomaid ice cream and coffee shop and a number of good pubs.

    EAT + RELAX

You enter the cottage along a path from the parking space, the front door is along the side of the property opening into a small hallway with hooks for coats. To the left is the newly installed kitchen, with plenty of cupboard space, large range cooker with ceramic hob, washing machine, dishwasher, large retro style fridge / freezer and microwave.  The kitchen leads through to the spacious, open plan, triple aspect living and dining area, there are large windows looking out over the valley and French doors leading out to one part of the garden; the result, a bright and airy space with views over the garden. At one end of the room is a large comfortable sofa, coffee table and a smart TV, in the dining area there is a further sofa, armchair, small dining table and two benches. An ideal room for relaxing after a strenuous coastal walk or surfing at nearby Sennen Beach!

    SLEEP + BATHE

On the other side of the cottage are two double bedrooms; the master has a Timothy Oulton super king bed and ensuite shower room.  The second bedroom has a comfortable double bed, cupboard and chest of drawers; both rooms are adorned with crisp white bed linen from the White Company. There is a separate family bathroom with bath and shower. You will find painted wooden floorboards and beautifully decorated rooms throughout the cottage

    OUTSIDE

The garden wraps around the cottage, in front of the entrance is a gravelled dining area with a charcoal BBQ.  Which leads to the patio directly outside the living room, the remainder is lawn and flowerbeds, an aspiring cottage garden. There are footpaths directly outside the cottage leading onto the coastal path and down to the sea. This landscape inspired many artists and writers from Rosamunde Pilcher to DH Lawrence. It is perfect for couples or a small family.

There is space to park one car at the front of the property and the ability to park a second car by arrangement if required.

Porth Nanven House, which sleeps 7 people is located next door, the two properties are separate and totally private but can be rented together for a larger party.

    DOGS

Cot valley is absolute heaven for dogs with abundant footpaths, a stream leading down to the cove.  Two dogs are welcome at the cottage. Dog towels are provided, there is an additional fee per dog. The garden is enclosed however it is not impenetrable, escape artists would most likely succeed in escaping. It cannot be made 100% completely dog proof.

    CHILDREN

Children and babies are welcomed. One travel cot, and a high chair can be provided on request.
